HRG Continues Eastern Region Expansion with Opening of Shippensburg Office

Strategic Alliance with Carl Bert & Associates Enables Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) to Better Serve Land Development Clients along the I-81 Corridor and to Pursue Additional Municipal Clients in Cumberland and Franklin Counties

Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) recently announced they are expanding their Eastern Region footprint with the February 1, 2016 opening of an office at 20 East Burd Street in Shippensburg, PA. The office opening is in conjunction with a strategic alliance HRG recently entered into with Carl Bert & Associates (CBA).

As part of the alliance, HRG added five former CBA employees to support their ongoing expansion into Cumberland and Franklin Counties, the I-81 corridor, and portions of Maryland and West Virginia. CBA employees joining the HRG team include Carl Bert, PLS, Scott Bert, P.E., Joseph Hague, P.E., and Travis Bingaman. HRG will also maintain CBA’s Martinsburg, WV presence with the addition of Gary Frey, PS.

Carl Bert, CBA’s owner, will support business development efforts for HRG in the area. Jamie Keener, AICP, a native of Shippensburg, and Scott Bert will oversee day-to-day operations and provide project supervision. William Kick, P.E., a Chambersburg resident who recently joined the HRG team, will support the Borough of Shippensburg from the new office as HRG was appointed their engineer of record in January 2016.

CBA will continue to operate from 20 East Burd Street, providing property and boundary surveys to its clients and to HRG in support of land development and other projects in the area.

HRG’s new Shippensburg, PA office will focus primarily on providing land development services to industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and residential development clients along the I-81 corridor, one of that fastest developing corridors on the East Coast. HRG has a significant presence in this area, providing services on large-scale warehouses, distributions centers, and business parks for clients such as Liberty Property Trust, Exel Inc., Panattoni Development Corporation, AMK/Ryan, MRP, Clarion Properties, and Matrix Development Group. The Shippensburg office now gives the company an even greater ability to serve these clients while providing quality, accurate, and responsive site design services. In addition to land development services, the Shippensburg office will allow HRG to better serve its existing municipal clients in the area and will enable them to expand their client base to include additional local governments throughout Cumberland and Franklin Counties.

Looking for a full-service firm with the resources to support its growing land development business, Carl Bert found the perfect match in HRG. Mr. Bert stated, “Our core values align perfectly. Their full-service capabilities and the approach they take with their clients gives me comfort in knowing that our clients and the local communities we serve will be well represented with HRG.”

Robert C. Grubic, P.E., HRG’s President and CEO sees this relationship as an opportunity for HRG to provide ongoing quality engineering services to the Greater Shippensburg and Chambersburg area. Mr. Grubic stated, “The decision to form this relationship fits squarely into our strategic plan for expanding into Cumberland and Franklin Counties and further south along the I-81 corridor. With our recent appointment as Shippensburg Borough engineer, we now have a local presence in Shippensburg, providing added efficiencies to the Borough and many future clients.”
