Commercial Development

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Challenge
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. needed an engineer with knowledge of the local regulatory environment to provide site engineering services for Wal-Mart and Sam's Club locations throughout Pennsylvania . Because of the fast-paced nature of the retail development industry, quick turnaround was often required.

Solution
HRG offered its full service engineering capabilities to Wal-Mart for the development of multiple stores and store expansions throughout Pennsylvania.

Full service capabilities simplify project management for Wal-Mart's staff…
At any one time, Wal-Mart may be developing several store locations or expansions, so the more management responsibilities on their end can be simplified, the more time they can devote to managing the operations of their retail chain.

Because of HRG's full service capabilities, Wal-Mart is able to rely on HRG as one project manager they can trust, rather than overseeing the work of several different firms. This makes their job easier and often expedites the schedule because of the improved coordination of widely varying tasks when they are all done in-house by one firm.

As a result of these efficiencies, HRG continues to provide the following services to Wal-Mart on a routine basis:

  • Site evaluation and selection
  • Site feasibility analysis
  • Property and topographic surveying
  • Site design and permitting
  • Landscape architecture
  • Traffic impact studies and signalization design
  • Wetland delineation/mitigation design
  • Transportation and utility infrastructure design
  • Zoning/land use application submissions
  • Environmental assessments
