Relocating to Lewisburg
Sense of Tradition and Community
Across the country, people are seeking a return to the traditional neighborhoods of our past with thriving downtowns and a greater sense of community connectedness. But residents of Lewisburg have been enjoying the benefits of such a neighborhood all along.
Walking up and down the streets of downtown Lewisburg, you will instantly be struck by its historic charm and the wide variety of local businesses that represent the town's entrepreneurial spirit. Well-preserved 19th century era buildings and period lampposts make it abundantly clear why this area has been nationally recognized as one of he best-preserved Victorian era communities in the United States. Several area museums reinforce this identity further, and local community fairs and festivals help you get to know your new neighbors quickly.
Outdoorsman’s Paradise
Like much of Central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg offers you abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation at several area state parks and forests. If hunting and fishing are among your greatest loves, then the Lewisburg region is the place for you. Its location along the Susquehanna River provides habitat for a wealth of bass, walleyes, muskie and other fish species. In addition, the area serves as a major destination for Pennsylvania hunters because of the prevalence of black bear, whitetail deer, and wild turkeys that roam the region.
Other outdoor activities that are popular in the area include kayaking and canoeing on the Susquehanna River and boating on Lake Chillisquake or Lake Augusta, a 3,000 acre impound on the Susquehanna created by the world’s largest inflatable dam.
Hiking enthusiasts enjoy the local state parks and are looking forward to a soon-to-be-completed rail trail connecting Lewisburg with Mifflinburg.
Strong Economy
Union County (in which Lewisburg is located) distinguishes itself from its neighbors in the Central Pennsylvania region by having the highest median income and second lowest unemployment rate of all the surrounding counties.
Education
If you are looking to further your career through advanced education, there is perhaps no better place to make your home than Lewisburg, which houses one of the most renowned schools of engineering in the United States: Bucknell University.
Other institutions of higher learning in the area include Bloomsburg University, Susquehanna University, and Penn State University's Penn College of Technology.
Close Proximity to Major Northeast Cities
Monday through Friday, the relaxed, rural pace of the area will help you unwind from your business workday.
