What is a typical day at HRG like for you?
I do a lot of plan mark-ups and sketch plans for my co-workers. I also do plan reviews on a regular basis.
What brought you to HRG?
The Susquehanna Township manager referred me to apply here for an internship.
What has been your favorite project so far, and what responsibilities did you have on this project?
My favorite project was designing a section of road and its drainage systems. It was the first project where I designed the pipe size and layout.
What do you like best about your job?
This is my second year interning. My co-workers have taught me so much and have done so very patiently. Everyone is kind and will try to answer every question I ask them.
What skills have you gained since you began working at HRG?
My CAD skills have improved tremendously, as have my skills of reading and understanding CAD drawings. Pitt does not offer any land development classes, so I did not know much when I started here. I am learning new things everyday.
In which areas do you wish to grow?
I want to continue to grow in all aspects of the land development process and continue to become more confident in my skills as an engineer. That can be accomplished by utilizing all of the great training opportunities HRG has to offer, both from my very knowledgeable and experienced co-workers and from the training seminars made available to HRG employees.
What would you tell upcoming graduates is the best reason to work for HRG?
Everyone is nice and it is easy to ask for help if you have a question. Your advisors/co-workers will sit down with you and teach you how to apply what you learned in school to real world problems. They will push you to be better and won’t punish you if you mess up. What more can you ask for? |
