Why Work at HRG?

At HRG, we enjoy and celebrate our culture surrounding employee ownership and collaboration; dedicated to growing the wealth and success of our company and improving our surrounding communities.

At HRG, diversity is defined in a multitude of ways.  Our staff brings together cultural, educational, career experiences and regional differences to enhance and elevate not only our employee’s career development but the services we provide to our clients.

Developing Talent

At HRG, we advocate employees to develop their careers by encouraging active participation in professional associations, attendance to relevant conferences and seminars, and providing financial assistance for professional credentialing, which strengthens the effectiveness of our teams.  We also identify and promote future leaders by providing the necessary tools and resources needed to be effective and successful.

  • Health & Wellness

Flexible and affordable medical, dental and vision insurances available to full-time employees and eligible dependents with minimal or no waiting period for coverage upon hire. The flexibility of our program allows employees to elect the coverage that is right for them.

  • Flexible Spending Accounts

Our FSA program offers eligible full-time employees the option to contribute pre-tax earnings to a Heath Care FSA and/or Dependent Care FSA to pay for qualifying out-of-pocket expenses; thus reducing the employee’s tax liability.

  • Professional Development

HRG encourages employees to continue developing their careers and may provide financial assistance for professional certification/license and education; utilizing our Tuition Reimbursement Program when applicable.

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)

A company-funded employee benefit program that provides financial ownership interest in the company through annual distribution of ESOP shares to eligible full-time and part-time employees.

  • Life & Disability Insurance

HRG provides basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment for employees and eligible dependents, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability insurance coverage at no cost to the employee. Additional Life and Short-Term Disability insurance coverages are available on a voluntary basis.

  • Work/Life Balance

To assist in creating a balance between work and personal life, HRG provides a generous paid time off program; including paid holidays and flex-time to our regular full-time employees.

  • Tuition Reimbursement

HRG provides tuition assistance to regular full-time employees pursuing an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or other related course work relative to their career development.

  • 401(k) Profit Sharing and Savings Plan

Eligible employees may contribute a percentage of their salary to a Traditional (pre-tax) and/or Roth (post-tax) qualified plan. Company contributions are determined on an annual basis by our Board of Directors.

Employee Testimonials

Sherry Shaffer

“As a 21-year veteran with HRG, not only have I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills through the development of our administrative team functions and be more utilized on client projects, I also advanced my career to my current position in Human Resources.  The opportunity to achieve your goals and expand your career is available at HRG for those willing to work hard.  I‘m very excited to be an employee owner of HRG, knowing that I’m working hard for my professional and personal success…how many people can say that???  For me, HRG is about the PEOPLE!  I met some of my best friends at HRG.  Our employees are friendly and respectful to one another and the camaraderie of management with all the employees is appreciated.”

Matt Arena

“Initially, I was attracted to HRG by the office location and capabilities of the firm. However I quickly discovered other features that set us apart from some of our competitors. While the structure in the Pittsburgh Regional Office represents a culture of working for a small firm with a close-knit group of employees, we also have the opportunity to work on a variety of large projects ranging from dams to water and wastewater treatment facilities, to roads and bridges. What makes this possible is the access to support and resources of a large multi-office firm.

During my tenure with HRG, I have had the opportunity to work with different regional offices and develop my career in both water & wastewater engineering and structural engineering/bridge design. Our staff is passionate about the work they do and are always willing to provide assistance and answer questions, even if they are not directly involved with a particular project.

At HRG, I appreciate that our clients typically have one or two primary contacts with whom they work with directly because this provides the opportunity to become the “go to” person for your client.”
